Should we find a new picture of Kelly to post?Kelly Brook in TV Guide
(12/30) The Jan. 5-11 issue of TV Guide features an article by Ty Holland about Kelly Brook, who will be making her Smallville debut in the show's next new episode, "Rogue," which airs on January 15.

The article talks about Kelly's mischevous and party-going background and offers some hints about her upcoming Smallville character, Victoria Hardwick, who will "fuel Luthor's dark side." Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) is quoted in the article too, offering some hints about what will happen once Victoria shows up in Smallville: "She shows up at this big gala and we go behind a pillar and start making out. It's a nice way to start [on a show]." Michael also mentions that he learned his character was getting a girlfriend from a fan website. Could it be...?

TV Guide's Jan. 5-11 issue features Carol Burnett on the cover, and it should hit U.S. newsstands on Monday, December 31st. Thanks to L01SLN for the tip!

U.K. Update!
(12/31) Brian Davis has sent in this information regarding Smallville in the United Kingdom:

"1 - The show is being broadcast in widescreen - it looks great !!

"2 - As someone who has seen the US episodes I noticed that some scenes had been edited down to tone-down violence - in particular the shedding of the skin in the shower in 'Metamorphosis'.

"3 - Smallville will be repeated (most likely uncut) on the E4 digital channel. This weeks episodes will be shown this coming Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 8pm."

Smallville begins airing at its regular time of 6pm on Channel 4 on Wednesday, January 2. Also, the UK's Warner Bros. website has now launched. For more international news on the show, visit the International page.

"Rogue" Guest Star
(12/29) The investigator/"bad cop" that Clark meets in the next new episode of Smallville ("Rogue") will be played by an actor named Cameron Dye.
Dye's previous credits include episodes of Frasier and Brooklyn South; and many movies.

"Rogue" will be airing on Tuesday, January 15th.

Lex with hair. And a few other things."Sorority Boys" Trailer Online
(12/30) The website for Michael Rosenbaum's new film, "Sorority Boys," is finally up, and you can find the movie's poster there. You can also download the trailer to the movie. The trailer prominently features Michael in many scenes. Swing by http://www.sororityboys.com and visit the dog house! Tell 'em Buffy and Hildegarde sent ya!

And by the way, that "girl" to your right is "Lex" himself. Believe it or not.

Will Chloe stalk Lana too? Next on Smallville!Smallville in Dreamwatch Magazine
(12/26) Smallville has landed in the pages of Dreamwatch magazine yet again.

The show got several mentions in the February 2002 issue, including an article where Dreamwatch says it looks like Smallville is "set to enjoy a long run." There's also a short article about Kelly Brook and her upcoming "super" role as Victoria Hardwick (beginning with the episode titled "Rogue.")

Finally, there's an article saying that the future of Roswell is in doubt, "in face of competition from new WB hit Smallville and NYPD Blue."

Dreamwatch should be available at most bookstores. Their website is http://www.dreamwatch.co.uk.

Smallville Goes To Australia
(12/24) Paul Wallis tells us that Australia's Channel 9 has begun advertising Smallville as being part of their 2002 line-up. Oddly the commercial promos they are airing include the show's first Martha Kent, Cynthia Ettinger; although we are sure it will be the Annette O'Toole version that will air when the show finally appears.

For more international Smallville news, visit the new International page!

Kristin Kreuk in "Snow White" March 17
(12/20) Kristin Kreuk (Lana) filmed the Hallmark production of "Snow White" for ABC's Wonderful World of Disney a year ago, and it just now has finally made the schedule.

ABC has scheduled for the movie to air on Sunday night, March 17, 2002, from 7-9pm. It's three months away, but be assured that we will post reminders closer to the time of the movie's airing. Kristin plays Snow White (of course!) The movie also stars Clancy Brown, who is of course the voice of Lex Luthor in the animated Superman and Justice League series. (But we know who the best Justice League voice is!)

Smallville's Second "Iceman"Confirmed: Shawn Ashmore Guest Stars In "Leech"
(12/14) We have gotten confirmation that actor Shawn Ashmore will be appearing in the upcoming episode of Smallville titled "Leech."

Shawn is previously recognizable for comic book fans for playing the role of "Bobby Drake" (a.k.a. Iceman) in the X-Men movie. He also appeared on the television series Animorphs.

Rest assured that Shawn's appearance will not be a Bobby Drake/Sean Kelvin battle of cool. (And that, friends, is the lame KryptonSite joke of the day!)

"I'm smooth."Michael Rosenbaum in Soap Opera Digest
(12/21) Thanks to ShannenB2000, we now have the scoop on Michael (Lex) Rosenbaum and his appearance in Soap Opera Digest.
Here are a few excerpts:

About Michael's decision to become an actor: "We were at Denny's, and I was eating a steak," Rosenbaum remembers. "I told my family, 'I want to be an actor.' My dad kind of looked at me and said, 'Just eat your steak.' [laughs] Seriously, they've been very supportive. When I started to get roles, they were really excited."

About some fans insisting that Lex Luthor might have a thing for Clark: "Well, everyone's imagination is different. I'm open to playing gay characters, but Lex isn't gay. That's not the story. But you know what?" he grins. "Clark is a very good looking guy. If Lex were gay, he would definitely hit on him."

You can find Soap Opera Digest at grocery stores and newsstands all across the U.S. The interview will probably likely be up on http://www.soapoperadigest.com soon.

"Oh come on, just a LITTLE more mouth to mouth?" (Ok, so that was stolen from Wizard magazine)Entertainment Weekly's Men of the Year!
(12/21) Entertainment Weekly has picked their "Men of the Year," and the dynamic duo of Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum made the list.

"I didn't salivate at the thought of seeing Clark Kent as a bewildered teen," EW's Caroline Kepnes said, "but the men of Smallville -- Clark Kent (Welling) and Lex Luthor (Rosenbaum) -- have me drooling like a Pavlovian pup. When Rosenbaum's angst-ridden Lex hides behind the tinted window of his really fast car, it's part James Spader circa ''Pretty in Pink'' and part DC comics, a combination that works because these guys wince and squirm as if they really were coming into their good/evil own. Oh, and they're pretty darn hot. Stranded without Lana in the high school hallway, Clark is a man of steel, encased in a veneer of pretty-boy gloss; and his prematurely bald rival... well, don'tcha just want to give him a healing hug and tell him it's not his fault he's evil? I know I do."

"So what are you, man or Superman?"Tom Welling One Of People's 25 Most Intriguing...
(12/20) Tom Welling (Clark) is one of People magazine's 25 Most Intriguing People for the year 2001.

The article says that Tom isn't letting his newfound celebrity go to his head. "I tell him if his head gets big, I'll start calling him Tom Swelling," Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) told People.

To see what else People had to say, visit their website. The article is accompaned by a photo, which you can see to your right. Thanks to everyone who wrote in to let us know!

Smallville in TV Guide
(12/20) The latest issue of TV Guide (Dec. 22-28) featured a comparison between Smallville and a teen-alien show from twenty years ago titled The Powers of Matthew Star.

Both shows starred former models, featured bald people, and had some association to John Schneider. To read TV Guide's full comparison chart, visit your local newsstand to pick up the latest issue!

Coming soon to a television near you?Another DC Comics-Related TV Series From Tollin-Robbins?
(12/21) The production company behind Smallville is developing a pilot based on the Batman-related DC comic book Birds of Prey. For some spoiler information on the series, click here.

This Week's Comics...
(12/20) Did you know Superman *is* still published in comic books? In case you didn't, or you just haven't read in a while, Daniducci (from the KryptonSite message boards) has some comic book recommendations for this week, in what will hopefully be a new feature here at KryptonSite. Check it out!

"So what are you, man or Superman?"Sam Jones III Also Interviewed At Zap2it.com
(12/18) Kristin Kreuk isn't the only Smallville star recently interviewed at Zap2it.com... Sam Jones III (Pete Ross) was also recently showed up there.

In the interview, Sam talks about his family's support of the show ("My mom took this cast [photo]," he said, "and she's made thousands of photocopies. I tell you, some of our ratings are due to my mom, because she walked around the neighborhood and handed those things out.") and he also revealed some interesting details about Pete's relationship with Chloe (""Pete has a crush on Chloe, but Chloe has a crush on Clark, but Clark has a crush on Lana, and Lana has a crush on Whitney. It's nothing that's going to burst out -- the writers let us know that early in the season -- but there's a little something there. But Chloe's a friend, so he has to respect her, and he can't get in between the friendship just yet.")

Finally, Zap2it.com asked Sam how Chloe and Pete just can't figure out that their best friend is... well, super. To read the answer to that one, and the entire interview, check it out by clicking here. Thanks to "JDNole" for passing that along, and to Zap2it for the linkage!

San Jose Mercury News Praises Michael Rosenbaum
(12/18) H20Girl tells us that Michael Rosenbaum was praised in the Dec. 17 edition of the San Jose Mercury News. Columinst Charlie McCollum discusses "ensemble members who add some small spark to a series. They may not be the focus of the show but they make the drama or comedy better by being in it." In the article, McCollum discusses Michael Rosenbaum and his role in Smallville:

"Michael Rosenbaum is one of those character actors whose work has always been better than the series they're on. (If you don't even remember his first two series, The Tom Show and Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane, you're not the only one.) This season, though, he got the juicy part of Lex Luthor on Smallville (9pm, Tuesday, Ch. 11, 20), the well-done retelling of the Superman legend. The great part about Rosenbaum's performance is that he makes Luthor a sympathetic troubled young man and not merely an arch-villain-to be."

Thanks again to H20Girl for passing that along and for making the message boards a whole lot of fun!

Kristin Kreuk Talks To Zap2it.com
(12/18) Kristin Kreuk (Lana) recently talked to Zap2it.com where she spoke about what makes her different from say, Katie Holmes, and how her teenage life is somewhat like the lives of her onscreen characters of Smallville's Lana and Edgemont's Laurel.

"It was always about finding out about myself, and finding about who I am, and how to be happy and peaceful and find balance," Kristin said. "I guess that comes across in the characters I play."

You can read Zap2it's complete article by clicking here. Thanks goes out to the ever-resourceful EmotionalHermit for the lead.

Magazine Sightings Galore!
(12/18) Here are some recent magazines with articles pertaining to Smallville:

  • Tom Welling (Clark) is mentioned on the cover and featured in a one-page bio in YM magazine's "Stars" special.
  • The show itself is featured in the XPose 2001-2002 Yearbook Special (#18), where the magazine talks with executive producer Alfred Gough.
  • The January 2002 edition of the UK magazine Dreamwatch features a 1 page article entitled "Smallville Hits Big" which is about how Smallville is "a soar-away ratings smash." It's the issue with "Lord of the Rings" on the cover, if you can't seem to find it

"So what are you, man or Superman?"Kristin Kreuk Named One Of Entertainment Weekly's "Women of the Year"
(12/17) Tom Welling isn't the only Smallville star getting recent notice from Entertainment Weekly.

Kristin Kreuk (Lana) was listed as one of EW's "Women of the Year." Because she makes Clark Kent fall to his knees, of course.

You can read EW's complete article by clicking here. Thanks to EmotionalHermit for the lead!

Metropolis = Vancouver?
(12/17) Some fans have noticed some shooting of Smallville recently in Vancouver. It is most likely that they're using Vancover as "Metropolis" for the upcoming episode "Rogue." Could this be the city they'll use for the Big Apricot in the future? Sounds likely...

Music To Give You "Jitters"....
(12/12) Here's a list of the music heard in the latest episode of Smallville:

"Pacific Coast Party" by Smashmouth -- This is what was playing at the very start of the episode.
"Tie Me Up" by Handsome Devil -- This is what is heard at Clark's party when Lana gets there.
"Bad Idea" by Bad Ronald -- This is playing at Clark's party when Whitney shows up.
"The People That We Love" by Bush -- This is in the background when Earl goes and talks to Will the other janitor at the beginning of the episode, at the Luthorcorp office in Metropolis.
"My Bridges Burn" by The Cult
