Cover
(10/4)
Issue #60 of the UK magazine Xpose
features Michael Rosenbaum (Lex), Tom
Welling (Clark), and Kristin Kreuk (Lana)
on the cover and the interior features an excellent
interview
with Kristin Kreuk where she talks about
the show, her character, and her co-stars, among
other things.
For
some excerpts from the magazine with some of the
things Kristin had to say, you can visit
the Xpose website.
The
latest Cult
Times Special features a cover with
Tom Welling and Scott Bakula (Enterprise)
photos made to look like they're standing next
to each other, but no new ground is covered in
the magazine, which featured an article with quotes
from the Television Critics Association press
tour a few months ago. Most of these quotes you
can already find in past
articles referenced here on KryptonSite.
Smallville
Featured In New Dreamwatch Magazine
(10/3)
Issue #86 (Nov. 2001) of the excellent UK sci-fi
magazine
Dreamwatch had features on
every one of the new sci-fi TV series of the season,
including Smallville.
The
Smallville feature has great quotes from actors
Tom Welling (Clark), Michael Rosenbaum
(Lex), and Sam Jones III (Pete), who talk
about their characters.
Tom
Welling talks about how his Clark Kent is
somewhat of an outsider. "Here he is able to do
these things, but no one else can do them. He
is a teenage kid, but he doesn't really have anyone
to turn to and say, 'Look at that - look at how
cool that is.' He just can't go out with his buddies
and say 'I can't hurt myself. Let's go to the
top of that building and jump off."
Then,
Michael Rosenbaum talks about how his personal
experience is nothing compared to what Lex Luthor
had to grow up with. "I was a short kid in high
school, I started puberty late and I was insecure.
That was bad enough, but imagine being insecure
and bald while dealing with your father's
repulsion towards your baldness. That can create
a lot of pent-up hatred -- something which may
ultimately contribute to Luthor's eventual transition
into darkness," Rosenbaum said.
Finally,
Sam Jones III talked about his character
of Pete Ross. "In the Superman comic book, Pete
is a white character," Sam told Dreamwatch,
"so I feel very privileged to break down
a barrier. Instead of being the cool, hip black
kid from the inner city, this guy is raised on
a farm, he's very intelligent and extremely energetic."
Issue
#86 of Dreamwatch is now at newsagents
in the UK, and should be hitting the United States
in the coming weeks. It has two covers available,
one with Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy the
Vampire Slayer, and another with Scott Bakula
from Enterprise. You can order issues of
Dreamwatch online at http://www.dreamwatch.co.uk.
Thanks VERY much to Clare for letting us know
about this!

Reuters/Variety reporter Josef Adalian recently
revealed that 21-year-old British model/actress
Kelly Brook (who you can see to the right)
is in negotiations with Warner Brothers to appear
in several episodes of Smallville as a
"gal pal of Lex Luthor's."
Brook
was originally going to star on the WB in a series

Superman
Homepage Catches Up With Cynthia Ettinger
(10/2)
Steve Younis of the Superman
Homepage has managed to contact Cynthia
Ettinger, who appeared in the Smallville
pilot that will never air. (Her scenes have been
reshot with Annette O'Toole, who will be playing
Martha Kent in the series).
"I
had a lot of conflicting directions on the show
and although I loved the story line, the people
and the character," Ettinger said. "They
just did not know how to use me or what to do
with the character. I am too young to have him
as my child and everyone seemed to be worried
about that from the word Go."

with Ettinger by clicking here.
Tom
Welling: Model Hero
(10/2)
Zap2it.com
today featured some quotes from Tom Welling
about his former profession as a model and how it
compares to playing young Clark Kent on Smallville.
"It's a whole different world," he said to Zap2it
about modeling. "I quit last year, and I'd been
doing it for about two years before that."
Tom
also revealed that in addition to acting, he has
done some of his own stunts for Smallville.
"I do as many stunts as reasonably possible,"
Welling said, "to give the directors more opportunity
in the editing room. I actually jumped off a two-story
barn and did a split-second of free-fall before
the ratchet and the harness caught me. That was
a great time. That was fun."

Daily News Sums Up The Competition
(10/2)
A syndicated article by David Kronke of the Los
Angeles Daily News covered the most competitive
timeslots of the new season, and of course Tuesdays
at 9PM made the list. Here's what he had to say:
"Start
with Frasier on NBC, then add the WB's
fairly promising piece of Super-revisionism, Smallville;
ABC's pretty promising self-help parody,
Bob Patterson; and Fox's incredibly promising
thriller, 24. CBS contributes The Guardian,
for which it claims to have high hopes, and UPN
adds the cult favorite Roswell, which appears
to be the generic template for the name-brand
Smallville. This is perhaps the only hour
on the prime-time schedule in which each of the
major networks has something nominally worth watching."
In
other print media news, Esquire magazine
has put Smallville on their "essential
shows list." Smallville has also made the
"'in' list" in several teen-oriented
papers and magazines. Thanks to Karen for passing
that along
