Erica Durance's New Show Saving Hope Premieres Tonight On NBC!

Smallville Season 11: Issue #4 Cover & Solicitation

The CW Fall 2012 Features Green Arrow, Green Arrow, & Kristin Kreuk
No, that headline isn't a typo.
Nearly a year after Smallville left The CW, the network has announced that the DC Comics character Green Arrow will officially be a part of their 2012-2013 schedule with Arrow, a new series where Stephen Amell will be playing Oliver Queen. Arrow will be an entirely new story - still based on the comics, of course - but it will not have any tie to Smallville or Smallville continuity. And of course, there is already an Arrow site in the KSiteTV Network - GreenArrowTV! Please come by. GreenArrowTV is also on Twitter @GreenArrowTV.
A second Green Arrow also has a place on The CW, as Justin Hartley is the male lead on a new show about young doctors called Emily Owens, MD.
And if those two things were not exciting enough... Kristin Kreuk will be making her return to The CW with a modern remake of the TV series Beauty and the Beast. Kristin will be playing Catherine Chandler, the role that Linda Hamilton made famous years ago. No site for that BUT there will be a dedicated Twitter feed for retweeting Beauty-related posts at @KSiteTV_Beauty.
The CW will be announcing their Fall 2012 schedules on Thursday, May 17, and it is expected that more images and trailers will be seen around that time. It will also be then that we find out what will air on which days.
George Murdock, who played the older version of piano-playing Harry Volk in the Smallville Season 1 episode "Hourglass," has died at the age of 81.
Murdock passed on April 30 of cancer. He had a long career that included Barney Miller, The X-Files, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and, of course, Smallville.

No New Smallville Season 11 Digital Comic This Week... Or Next
We're going to have to wait a little longer for the next chapter of the Smallville Season 11 "Guardian" story.
ComiXology's support team confirmed on Twitter that there is "no new Smallville comic today." We've sent an e-mail to DC for confirmation and more details, so hopefully we'll have more news soon. Thanks to @DullyEl for bringing this to our attention.
UPDATE: We have confirmation from DC, saying "digital will pick up where we left off later this month." We're trying to find out an exact date to know for sure. To be honest, this is a bit of a bummer, as the weekly chapters gave Smallville Season 11 a great momentum.
ANOTHER UPDATE: Bryan Q. Miller has Tweeted that the Smallville Season 11 digital comics will return on May 18.
YET ANOTHER UPDATE: DC has finally released a revised schedule for what is shipping and when. Find it here.
What to do to drown out your sorrows and depression over no new comic? Well, you could go to your local comic book shop and pick up the printed issue #1, collecting the first three chapters... or, I dunno, go see Avengers.
Smallville & Show Veterans Nominated For Several Leo Awards
Smallville went off the air almost a year ago, but that hasn't stopped episodes from 2011 from getting nominations for this year's Leo Awards, honoring the best Vancouver-based productions and talent.
Gordon Verheul was nominated for Best Cinematography in a Drama Series for his work on "Booster." James Philpott was nominated for Best Production Design for two different episodes - "Dominion" and "Finale." "Dominion" also got a nod for Melanie Williams' costume designs.
Additionally, Smallville's own Glen Winter got a nomination for his cinematography in the "Black Hat Angels" episode of Charlie's Angels. You can see Glen's again work this Fall, hopefully, on the pilot episode of The CW's Green Arrow pilot Arrow.
The feature length drama Marilyn, directed by Christopher Petry and starring Allison Mack, has several nominations, including Best Feature Length Drama, Best Direction (for Petry), Best Screenwriting (again, Christopher Petry), Best Picture Editing (Kirby Jinnah), Best Overall Sound (Kirby Jinnah & Martin Borycki), Best Musical Score (Devon Cody & Jason Solyom), Stunt Coordination (Ernest Jackson), and Best Male Lead Performance (Ryan Robbins, who appeared in the Smallville episode "Exile").
Smallville Season 11 Digital Issue #3 Is Released!
Smallville Season 11 continues today with some cool Clark/Oliver interaction as well as some great moments between Lois and Chloe. And lots of continuity! Did we mention it's only 99 cents on several apps?
Also don't forget that the first printed Smallville comic, collecting the first three chapters with some extra bonus material, hits comic book stores on Wednesday, May 2!
Images: Erica Durance & Daniel Gillies Promote Saving Hope
Erica Durance's new series Saving Hope premieres on NBC this summer, and today, she and The Vampire Diaries' "Elijah," Daniel Gillies, appeared together in Pasadena, CA to promote the show.
Warner Bros. Television is currently shooting a Green Arrow television pilot titled Arrow which is hoping for a spot on the network's Fall 2012 schedule.
The show does not star Justin Hartley, but instead, Stephen Amell takes on the iconic role which has no connection to the Oliver Queen that we saw on Smallville.
WBTV today released an official image of Amell in costume. Want to take a larger look?
Smallville Finale Scoop: Tess Mercer Wasn't Always Going To End Up That Way!
Over on our general TV news site, KSiteTV, we interviewed Cassidy Freeman (Tess Mercer) about her appearance on the March 15 episode of The Vampire Diaries - and, of course, since there wouldn't even be a KSite without Smallville, we asked Cassidy about the series finale and the upcoming comic book.
While she was at it, Cassidy revealed something about the Smallville finale that many people may not have known!
(Cassidy's run on The Vampire Diaries continues with this week's episode, "Break On Through!")
The 2012 KryptonSite Awards: Nominees Revealed & Voting Begins!
Every year in the summer following the conclusion of a given season of Smallville, KryptonSite has honored the best and worst of the show with the annual KryptonSite Awards.
This year, since there has been no show, we're going to honor the entire series... and we're doing it a few months early to make way for a new KryptonSite feature that should be beginning this summer.
There were 218 episodes of Smallville, and there's a lot to like or dislike... but thanks to you, the K-Site readers, it's narrowed down a bit! So, check out the nominations and feel free to start voting!

The CW Orders A Pilot For A Green Arrow TV Series!
Justin Hartley is not involved (so don't expect it to be a Smallville spin-off), but The CW has just officially ordered a pilot for a Green Arrow television series, titled simply Arrow.
David Nutter, who directed the Smallville pilot back in 2001 and has since gained quite a track record for successful pilots, is expected to direct.
MORE Images Of Erica Durance As Wonder Woman (And Annie Bilson) In Harry's Law!
Erica Durance will be playing Wonder Woman next week.
Well, not exactly. She plays a woman who dresses up like Wonder Woman to dole out some vigilante justice on the January 11 episode of NBC's Harry's Law, produced by David E. Kelley, the same person who created that not-very-good Wonder Woman TV pilot earlier this year.
A few pictures went out last week, but now, NBC has released several more - not just of Erica as Wonder Woman, but also in her "civilian" alter ego of Annie Bilson.
Two New (But Small) Images From Erica Durance's New Series - Saving Hope!
Erica Durance 's new series Saving Hope, which also features Michael Shanks (Hawkman) and Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries) in its cast, doesn't yet have an announced network here in the United States, but it's definitely going to air in Canada on CTV.
One of the show's distributors has released another bio about Saving Hope as well as two new images of Erica from the new show.

Smallville Season 11 Is [Possibly] Coming... As A Novel
BleedingCool.com has reported the news today that Smallville writer Bryan Q. Miller has been tapped to write a Smallville "Season 11" novel in the coming year, picking up where the series left off.
Unlike some of the televised "Smallville is returning" rumors, this one may have some legs, especially as Miller has worked with DC Comics before on their Batgirl comic.
Stay tuned for more details as soon as they become available or confirmation comes from DC Comics.

Deadman is not the only DC Comics concept in development for television now.
Although we didn't see the character on Smallville beyond the Justice Society painting in "Absolute Justice," it has been revealed that FOX is developing a television series adaptation of The Spectre. The Spectre is one of DC's oldest characters - he first appeared in 1940 and was co-created by one of the creators of Superman, Jerry Siegel. Let's just hope the character doesn't have the same legal issues.

Alleged New Man Of Steel Synopsis Surfaces
A supposed new synopsis for the next Superman movie, The Man Of Steel, has made its way online.
Al Gough Talks Smallville Finale, Michael Rosenbaum As "Charlie"
TVLine posted details about the Charlie's Angels panel at the TCA Press Tour, which had Smallville creators Alfred Gough & Miles Millar in attendance. Of course, Smallville is a topic that did come up during the session... starting with a familiar actor wanting to be the voice of Charlie.
"[Michael] Rosenbaum keeps sending me voice tapes to be the voice of Charlie — seriously," Al Gough has said, sharing that the former Lex Luthor wants to fill the role once held by John Forsythe. Originally, it was going to be Robert Wagner, but he has "scheduling issues" preventing it.
Gough's response? "I think [Michael] might be a little young," he said, "but we'd love to have any [Smallville alumni] on the show."
Gough admitted that due to the development of the new Charlie's Angels show, he wasn't able to keep up with Smallville, so he thought a lot of the series finale was "confusing." He did admit, though, that it's hard to wrap up any show that's gone on for ten years. "I think they did the best he could," he said.
"The final image was always Clark Kent suiting up as Superman and flying away -- but back in the day there was going to be more of thing with him and Lex (played by Rosenbaum)…. It all came down to the Lex-Clark dynamic," Gough says about how he would have ended the show. It was always the plan, however, to bring out the Super-suit and send Clark flying in the final episode.
Charlie's Angels premieres in September, and you can read more about it at our general TV news site, KSiteTV.

We'll be posting the full interview with Kelly Souders next week, but because most of you over on Twitter promised you'd watch the Pilot re-airing if something was posted early, we've got some items about the series finale that we couldn't resist posting.
Smallville Hits The Cover Of TV Guide On Newsstands Today!
The new issue of TV Guide Magazine has Tom Welling and Erica Durance on the cover and a whole lot of interview material as Smallville flies into its final six installments (yes, I'm counting "Finale" as two, so we get a bigger number).
The issue features some exclusive photography, including this cover and an original image of Tom & Erica on the inside.
The issue should be hitting newsstands today. The best place to look is often grocery stores, but be aware they might not put them out until the afternoon or even Friday.

Michael Rosenbaum's New Show Breaking In Premieres Tonight!
The new sitcom Breaking In featuring Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) premieres tonight at 9:30 following American Idol on FOX. Michael tells us that it should be "right up the alley" of Smallville fans. Christian Slater stars in the series, which also features Bret Harrison, he of the it-should-have-never-been-canceled series Reaper.
(And of course, Michael will be appearing on some other show on May 13...)
We have just added six more images to our Breaking In Rosenbaum gallery which you can find at our general TV news site, KSiteTV.
Pilot Week Interview: Eric Johnson Looks Back On Playing Smallville's "Whitney"
Before the final run of new Smallville episodes begin, The CW is doing something special this Friday (April 8) by re-airing the very first episode of the series from October 2001.
One face that might be new to people who weren't around to see the show the first time is Eric Johnson, who played Whitney in Smallville's first season. Now, ten years later, he has given an interview to KryptonSite where he looks back at those classic days and he updates us on what he is currently up to.
The CW is re-airing the pilot episode of Smallville on Friday, and Zap2It caught up with Tom Welling to learn that he, too, has revisited the very first show.
"I've revisited the pilot a few times," Tom told Zap2It, "sometimes by accident, other times for research, and I'm always amazed how far we've come. I'm 10 years older and 30 lbs. heavier -- I don't know how that happened! -- but I think the pilot still holds up. It doesn't necessarily look dated or out-of-touch."
You can read the entire Welling interview at Zap2It here.

"Booster" Image Gallery!
The CW has released a whole lot of images from the Geoff Johns-penned April 22 episode of Smallville... featuring Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, and some promotional photos of Clark that we've been waiting YEARS for.
Zack Snyder Credits Smallville With "Keeping Superman Alive"
In a brief audio interview, the director of the next Superman movie credited Smallville with keeping the character in the public eye for the past decade.
Ten years ago, Amy Adams guest starred in what was then voted the Worst Episode of Smallville Season 1 in the first-ever KryptonSite Awards, as she played Jodi Melville in "Craving." Now, Adams has created a fantastic film career where she is one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood, already having several Oscar nominations.
Adams has now been cast in the role of Lois Lane for Zack Snyder's new Superman film, tentatively titled The Man Of Steel, due in theaters December 2012.
“There was a big, giant search for Lois,” director Zack Snyder told the L.A. Times' Hero Complex, which broke the news. “For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”
Look for KryptonSite's Man of Steel sub-section to be live soon.
After ten years of filming in Burnaby, BC up in Canada, Smallville finishes its time up there with the last day of shooting happening today.
We want to thank the cast and crew for doing a phenomenal job up there, and we share in the sadness that this epic time is coming to an end.
There are some fantastic people up there who work together to make a great product every week. It's really strange, at least to me, to think of that studio lot being empty... although we hear the Secret Circle pilot might be taking over some of that studio space, though that is unconfirmed. (If they are shooting there, they sure as heck better hire as many Smallville alums as possible - they're good people!)
To sum it all up in just two words... Thank You.
24 Preview Images From The Next New Smallville - "Kent!"
Smallville returns with new episodes on April 15, and that's not all that's returning on that night... someone from the show's past is in the episode as well!
The CW has released 24 images from the episode, which is called "Kent," and now all 24 images are posted here at KryptonSite!
TV Guide has revealed that their new issue which hits newsstands on April 7 will have a special Smallville tribute feature. There's also a photoshoot involved, and they have posted a video feature with Erica Durance online. Check it out:

"Kent" Official Description!
Finally, some new spoilers... The CW has released their official description for the next new episode of Smallville, which airs on April 15.
Well, At Least One DC Comics Hero Costume Has Been Revealed...
While we wonder if we'll see Clark's Superman costume on Smallville revealed before May 13, we now have our first look at Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman from the TV pilot that is currently filming.
New episodes of Smallville don't begin again until April 15, but thankfully, The CW released this promo trailer to whet our appetites, and now, thanks to Mr. Video, we have screen captures of this trailer, which includes the return of a familiar face, a rock... and a funeral.
Most of the clips are from the April 15 episode "Kent" but there are a few shots from "Booster" as well.
Al Septien & Turi Meyer Join The Vampire Diaries Writing Staff
With Smallville ending, the crew of the show will be moving on to other shows, and this morning, Turi Meyer announced on Twitter where he and writing partner Al Septien are going.
The duo, who have been writing and producing for Smallville since Season 5, will be moving over to Mystic Falls and joining the staff of The Vampire Diaries.
Septien and Meyer have also directed for Smallville, with episodes including this season's "Harvest" (Meyer) and Friday's "Scion" (Septien).
The Vampire Diaries already counts Caroline Dries on its writing staff.
There is a Vampire Diaries portal here in the KSiteTV/KryptonSite Network. It's not updated nearly as often or as comprehensive as KryptonSite, but you can check it out here if you're curious.

Smallville's First "Supergirl" Is Now Wonder Woman!
Seven years ago, the name Adrianne Palicki first became well known to Smallville fans (and the world!) when she played a girl who seemed to be Clark's Kryptonian cousin "Kara" in the Season Three finale of Smallville, titled "Covenant."
You probably remember it; it was one of the best episodes of the entire series.
Now, Palicki has landed another high-profile DC Comics role - her third if you count her role as a "siren" in the Aquaman pilot - as she will be playing Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, in NBC's soon-to-shoot Wonder Woman TV pilot. If successful, it could be a series starting Fall 2011.
The news about the Smallville series finale keeps getting better.
Greg Beeman has announced that he will be directing the final episode of Smallville.
The announcement came this afternoon on his Beaming Beeman blog.
Beeman has directed some of the series' most memorable episodes, starting with "Hothead" and including such episodes as "Crusade," "Commencement," "Reckoning," and last year's season finale, "Salvation."
The finale airs on May 13.

MICHAEL ROSENBAUM WILL BE BACK IN THE SERIES FINALE!
Yes, that had to be capitalized and printed in large letters.
After some not-so-encouraging news came in Entertainment Weekly, TVLine's Michael Ausiello was the first to come through with the news we all wanted: Michael Rosenbaum will indeed be back for the Smallville series finale on May 13.
“I’m delighted to return for the series finale,” Rosenbaum said in a statement. “I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made Smallville the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness, and even their threats. Ha ha.”
“I can’t wait to hug the old crew back in Vancouver one last time and see all of my old friends once again. Oh, and for Lex to become the bad-ass he’s destined to be,” he continued.
Executive Producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders released a statement about Michael's return. Here's what they had to say:
"It feels like the stars are aligning, literally. We couldn't be more excited about having Michael back. And as far as the way he returns … there'll be no doubt about how Lex becomes the great rival in Clark Kent's life. He *is* the villain of the story."
Tonight: Martha & Lionel Are Back In A New Smallville!

Exclusive Interview: Annette O'Toole Talks About Her Return To Smallville In Tonight's Episode!
One of our favorite people returns to Smallville tonight with the episode "Beacon."
That person, of course, is Annette O'Toole (Martha Kent), and in an exclusive KryptonSite interview, she talks about what it was like to return to the show again in its final season.
If you just can't wait for Friday night to see Annette O'Toole on TV again, you're in luck: She's also on tonight's episode of Private Practice which airs on ABC at 10PM.
"I play a woman whose son has been killed in Iraq six months ago, and she's dealing with that, but she founds out something she didn't know, which is that he had a child with a female soldier, and the female soldier has been practically blinded by shrapnel in this explosion that killed the son," she tells us.
"There's a baby that she didn't know about, and once she finds that out, she comes to the hospital where this woman is being treated to take the baby," she continues. "It's a nice character because you think it's going to be one thing and then it turns out to be another."
Annette tells us that it's the B-story of tonight's show and many of her scenes are with Tim Daly, who, along with Lucas Grabeel on her recent Smallville guest appearance, introduced her to the world of an iPad. Considering Tim Daly is one of the most famous voices of the Superman character, and adding the fact that Annette's husband, Michael McKean, bought her an iPad, that means that Superman, Lex Luthor, and Perry White were all her enablers.
"Scion" Official Description!
The CW has released a very short official description for the March 4 episode of Smallville.
More incorrect listings have recently shown up on IMDB. We've announced it on our Twitter feed, but since not everyone follows that and we're still getting e-mails, it bears repeating.
First off: Robbie Amell is NOT playing Conner Kent in the episode "Kent." We've gotten confirmation on this from the studio, but also, Amell himself has confirmed that he's not doing Smallville at this time (though he'd love to).
Secondly, IMDB lists Michael Rosenbaum as appearing in episode #20 of the season. Again, this is a case where someone with wishful thinking has submitted to the Internet Movie Database, and as it is user-submitted, it can't always be quality-controlled. We'd love to see Rosenbaum, but honestly... if he's coming back, it's going to be broken by someone like Ausiello, NOT just a random IMDB posting.

Two More Episode Titles - And A Change In Episode Airing Order
We're getting closer and closer to having no more titles to share, as we have now added the titles for episodes #10.19 and #10.20 to the KryptonSite Spoilers Page -- as well as a hint about the title for #10.22, the series finale.
In addition, KryptonSite has learned that the airing order for "Booster" and "Kent" has changed. Now, "Kent" will air 17th in the season, followed by the DC Comics-friendly (and surely more effects-heavy) "Booster" as #18.
So that new Tom Welling image turned out to be from "Masquerade," the Feb. 18 episode of Smallville, and now The CW has released 22 images from the episode!
The new gallery is now fully posted here at KryptonSite.
Finally: A Good Promo Image Of Clark In The Jacket!
The CW has released two new promotional images of Tom Welling. We're not sure if it's from an upcoming episode or if it's part of a gallery, so we're including it in our Season 10 image gallery.
A Two-Hour Finale For Smallville? Plus, "Fortune" Details
TV Guide's William Keck posted a whole lot about the upcoming episode "Fortune" today, including the image to your left, but he ALSO posted an interesting detail about the series finale.
Here's what he said:
I'm also hearing the finale may be a two-hour send-off — with one last visit from Supergirl!
Deadline.com is reporting that British actor Henry Cavill has been chosen to play Superman in the upcoming Zack Synder-directed film The Man Of Steel.
Snyder has made this statement about the casting:
“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”
The targeted release date for The Man Of Steel is December 2012, and unlike the last Superman movie, we will be providing updates here on KryptonSite - got to have something to write about once Smallville is over, right?
Reports: Supergirl & Zod To Return Before Series' End
TVLine is reporting news that was first reported by the Superman Homepage last week, that Laura Vandervoort will be returning to Smallville sometime within the final five episodes of the series.
This comes soon after news from TV Guide that Callum Blue's Zod will also be returning for an appearance within the final five shows.
No confirmation yet on when exactly either appearance will come.
Those of us with superhero withdrawals after May might have something new to watch this Fall.
Although it seemed that all four major networks would pass on the project, NBC has put in a pilot order for David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman TV project after all.
Details, including some basic plot information, are already becoming available. And you can surely bet WonderWomanTV.com will be a K-Site-like destination once it all gets rolling...
Now can The CW pick up Raven to make this Fall twice as nice, or is that asking too much?
Before Jaime Reyes became the Blue Beetle, another man had the role. That would be Ted Kord, who TV Guide's Natalie Abrams revealed today will be played by Sebastian Spence in the upcoming Smallville episode "Booster."
41-year-old Spence counts recurring roles on Supernatural, First Wave, and Battlestar Galactica on his resume.
Jaren Brandt Bartlett Is The Blue Beetle!
Entertainment Weekly has revealed that 22-year-old Jaren Brandt Bartlett has gotten the role of Jaime Reyes, the Blue Beetle, in the upcoming Geoff Johns-penned episode "Booster."
Bartlett's previous credits include The Troop and Aliens In America.
Days Of Our Lives' Eric Martsolf Is Playing Booster Gold!
So they didn't get Captain Awesome from Chuck after all...
Soaps.com is reporting that Eric Martsolf from Days Of Our Lives has been cast in the role of Booster Gold.
So far, this has not been confirmed by the studio. However, these soap sites are often very good at fishing out information!
Thanks to Vanda for the tip.
Here's some trivia (thanks to Jory): When Martsolf appeared on Passions, he played the brother of Justin Hartley's character!
UPDATE: Thanks to Brett V. who pointed us in the right direction, Martsolf himself has Tweeted a link to the news... which makes us assume that yep, it's legit.
Erica Durance Is One Of The CW's "Kick-Ass Women!"
Last night during The CW leg of the Television Critics' Association Winter Press Tour, Erica Durance appeared on a panel with The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev and Candice Accola, Hellcats' Aly Michalka, as Nikita's Maggie Q and Lyndsy Fonseca as one of the "Kick-Ass Women of The CW."
We weren't there, but the network released some photos, including a few including Erica, if you'd like to check them out at our general TV news site, KSiteTV.
