Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders were faced with the task of continuing Smallville after the original Executive Producers, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, left the show. At that time, the show also lost series staples Michael Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk.
Instead of the show imploding, however, the show under Peterson and Souders (with Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer in Season 8) gained audience, lured in by romance and some more comic book action. It was under their watch that Geoff Johns' four episodes aired, and they were the ones to bring the show to its conclusion. The show could have ended up dying in a Friday night grave; instead, it still managed to outrate a lot of the other CW programming.
As writers, Peterson and Souders were responsible for many episodes, including favorites like "Nocturne," "Phoenix," "Relic," "Blank," "Reckoning," "Vessel," "Bizarro," "Siren," "Prey," "Savior," "Homecoming," and "Finale Part 2" - and that's not even the entire list! Look for Kelly and Brian's work this Fall on The CW's Beauty and the Beast which will reunite them with Kristin Kreuk. Brian and Kelly had 37.6% of the total vote.
Series creators Alfred Gough & Miles Millar came in second in this race, with 279 votes. Third place honors went to longtime comics fan favorite Geoff Johns.
