Jensen Ackles & Eric Johnson In Smallville Magazine #6: Interview Highlights!
The sixth issue of Titan's official Smallville magazine is now starting to hit newsstands. The issue features interviews with two actors who played the men in Lana Lang's life, Jensen Ackles and Eric Johnson.

Here are some highlights from what they had to say. First, we'll start with Jensen Ackles, who joined the series with the current season.

On what Jensen would like to see from his character of Jason Teague:
"I'd like to see more of who he is and where he comes from. A lot of the character choices have been pulled from thin air. I know that he is a rich guy from Metropolis who has probably grown up with a fairly interesting life, but what that interesting life entails, I'm not quite sure. Lex and Jason have a scene in 'Recruit' where Lex says, 'You used to fly all over the world, and your mother used to take you on all these exotic trips to the far reaches of the Earth', and then he starts insinuating that she was doing it for other reasons apart from vacationing. So he was a young guy going to these third world countries and having these experiences that not many people would have. It's those kind of things that are interesting to me in who this guy is and how he's gotten to where he is now. What sort of thoughts go on in his head - what sort of grey thoughts are going on in his head?"

Jensen on Jason's thoughts about Lana:
"He sees in Lana a breath of fresh air, something that is real, something that is honest, that is pure."

What does Jensen know about Jason's future?
"Aside from going to China with Lex, I haven't seen much beyond that. I'm interested in figuring out what they're doing. I understand that it's going to be a few episodes with that storyline as the main focus.

"In the middle part of the first 13, I felt like I was becoming just window dressing. I was coming in, saying two lines and that was about it. I didn't get too upset, because the other actors said that it's always a bit of a cycle. There are seven or eight main players on the show and they can't write a main storyline for all of us. Everyone takes turns. I'm excited to be doing something now to advance my character so he doesn't seem like just a decoration on a Christmas tree. That's exciting for me, but at the same time it sucks that the other characters don't get that exposure. Hooking up with Lex and Clark instantly brings me to the forefront of the show. I'm excited about the next six episodes..."
