  Planet Krypton and KryptonSite have
been following the development of Smallville
since the original announcements of a "teenage Clark Kent project"
in September 2000. KryptonSite was the first-ever site devoted to Smallville,
and with constant updates, it just hasn't been possible to keep everything on
  the main page.
Here are some of the headlines from November 16-30, 2001....

Why should that matter? Well, one of the students in that graduating class was none other than a "Thomas J. Welling." We have no idea what the "J" stands for, but if you look to your right, you can find a picture of a then-18-year-old, pre-model, pre-"Clark Kent" Tom. Thanks to those on the message boards and via e-mail who brought this to our attention (especially H20Girl, who first mentioned it on the boards!). "Craving"

Both series showed a rise over last week. Roswell, of course, remains at dead last. (Whatever happened to the fall of Smallville and the rise of Roswell, Ronald D. Moore?) Tuesday night's episode gave Smallville its best ratings since its debut in the demographics of Households, Men 12-34, Adults 18-34, Men 18-34, Adults 18-49, and Men 18-49. It also captured its best ratings for the season among Persons 12-34, Females 12-34, Teens, and Female Teens. Here's the chart of Tuesday night's overnight ratings:

Inside fans can learn a little bit more about Laura Potter, and how she really is a bit like her daughter Lana Lang. Here's an excerpt: "I put on my cheerleading uniform and my pom-pom smile, and when the going got rough, I recessed into a book. That's probably what got me here in front of you today. But I'd happily give it all back if I could. I'd trade in the pom-poms and the straight A's and the college acceptance for just one thing: the chance to stand up for what was right. So you see, you should be ashamed of yourselves, but no one is more ashamed than I." It also looks like there are some more hints regarding future episodes if you read the articles at the Torch and its sister site, the Smallville Ledger carefully. (For example: Read the article about health problems at LuthorCorp on the main page at the Ledger, and then visit the KryptonSite Spoilers page and read what we have to say about "Jitters.") So, the group first played their current most popular song, "Save Me." This would have gone over well except for the fact that "Save Me" is the theme song of Smallville, which every week seems to be trampling over Roswell in the ratings. It is thought that Remy Zero was unaware of their faux pas. Smallville

I can tell you that after I saw the trailer at the Vegas Retailer Summit, I knew it was going to be a hit, Quesada told Newsarama. We love the show and felt that it was a missed opportunity by AOL Comics not to have a comic out. We could have made Smallville a top 10 book! We had a whole creative team in mind to do the book. Imagine getting Jeph Loeb and Mike Wieringo! I'm sure they would have done it in a heart beat! The article goes on to explain that at the time, Quesada's contacts told him DC wasn't looking to do it, so he figured, let's take a shot. A few weeks ago calls were placed to Warner Bros. about acquiring the license, and according to the Editor-in-Chief, after several attempts Warner responded and informed Marvel they couldn't give them the license, that DC had exclusive rights to all their properties in comic book format. You can read the entire Newsarama article, including the rest of Marvel Comics' plans for 2002, by visiting the site. As for DC Comics' plans for a Smallville comic book series, despite reports at other sites, we are hearing of no current plans for a Smallville comic (even though one would be a no-brainer and give DC a chance for their own "Ultimate Superman!"). However, there will be a Smallville comic-format story in the Dec. 8 TV Guide, drawn by Terry and Rachel Dodson. If we hear otherwise that a Smallville comic is indeed on the way, you'll be the first to know.
