Perry White Cast!
The Sept. 27 issue of TV Guide (on sale Sept. 22) will properly confirm previous online rumors which first surfaced on SmallvilleFans.com that the role of Perry White for episode #3-5, "Perry," will be played by Michael McKean.

McKean's accomplished career includes recurring TV roles on shows like Laverne and Shirley, Grand, and Saturday Night Live; guest spots on series including The X-Files, The Lone Gunmen, and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman; and roles in nearly 100 movies, including Clue and The Brady Bunch Movie.

McKean's best known movie work was as part of Christopher Guest's troupe in movies beginning with This Is Spinal Tap. (Hey, if you've been on the Simpsons, you know you're cool). This led to acclaimed roles in movies like Best in Show. McKean has also written and directed throughout his career.

His most recent film with Guest, A Mighty Wind, featured music co-written with his wife, Annette O'Toole (who of course is "Martha" on Smallville!).

"He's kind of at a low ebb, careerwise," McKean tells TV Guide in the Sept. 29 issue. "He's looking for that big story that's going to turn everything around." At this point, Perry White is working at a tabloid news show and has a fondness for drinks.
