Cynthia Ettinger Released From Smallville
(6/4) Already it seems that changes are on the way for Smallville between now and the airing of the series this Fall on the WB.

Over on the Superman Cinema message board, "Chloe Sullivan" reported yesterday that Cynthia Ettinger has been released from Smallville, and they will be recasting the role of Martha Kent.

A source close to the show says that this is indeed true. No word yet on who's up for the role now, and we don't know if this was the choice of the producers or Ms. Ettinger herself. We also don't know if Ms. Ettinger's scenes for the Smallville pilot will be re-shot (several were fx-heavy and may not be worth the trouble of redoing them)

Actors leaving after pilot episodes are common occurrences, especially on The WB. Did you know Alyssa Milano was not in the pilot for Charmed? How about that John Wesley Shipp was NOT Dawson's father in the original Dawson's Creek pilot? How about the fact that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer pilot presentation didn't feature Alyson Hannigan as Willow?

The rest of the cast should be staying as it was in the pilot. We'll let you know when we hear what's going to happen with the role.
