Erica Durance Teases Upcoming Episodes & Talks About The End
Interview by Craig Byrne
At the Smallville 200th Episode Red Carpet on Saturday night, KryptonSite was one of several media outlets who had the opportunity to talk with members of cast and crew for exclusive interviews.
Erica spoke with us about the new knowledge her character now has, teased some upcoming episodes, and talked about how prepared she is for the series' end next year.
This is the first of many interviews you will find here at KryptonSite between now and the airing of the show's 200th episode on Friday, October 15.
Please do not repost this interview on other websites; instead just link directly to it. Thanks! Smallville Season 10 airs Fridays at 8PM on The CW! Questions to Erica are in bold; answers are not.
What can you tell me about how Lois has changed since learning Clark's secret?
I think it just gives people a chance to see how very much she does love Clark. She's willing to accept that he is keeping this secret. Because she knows it's hard for him to tell anyone, she's patient with it. She's not embittered about it. You see she has a little bit of fun with it, and she waits around, and waits for him to be ready to tell her.
In Episode #200 there's a journey into Smallville High. Can you talk about that?
Lois drags Clark back to his high school reunion, in true form, and the poor fellow does not want to go, but he's so kind to Lois, so they go back, and James Marsters' character Brainiac comes back and takes him on a past, present, and future journey to see what life would be like, given different choices he makes. So it's a little bit less about the big CGI stuff. It's very Clark Kent, it's very heartwarming. There's a magnificent scene at the end of it. Not because I'm in it, but just because I'm a total fan. So I got really excited.
Since Chloe is Lois' cousin, are we going to see her reaction to Chloe's disappearance?
They've dropped it through a little bit with me. They really haven't played on it a whole lot with Lois yet, so I'm interested as well, to see when that will come through.
There's an episode coming up where Lois is posessed by a goddess. Can you talk about that at all?
Yes. Lois becomes posessed by the goddess Isis. It's wonderful. It's very theatrical; the costume is theatrical. I get to have this cool new thing going on, and as an actor, to get to play something so different who is so powerful, it's quite great.
"Harvest" looks like a creepy episode and a big episode for Lois.
It's a huge episode for Lois, and it's a little bit of that balance between Lois and Clark and how she deals with knowing who he is. She kind of gets a little bit upset and wants to teach him a lesson, and then gets them both in the worst spot on Earth.
I understand Lois' family is coming back in an episode called "Ambush."
Her family is coming back. General Lane is coming back, so you get to see Michael [Ironside] again. You get to see Peyton [List] playing Lucy. They are fun, and fabulous, and Clark gets another window into why Lois is who she is.
What is your reaction to learning that Teri Hatcher would be playing your mom in "Abandoned?"
When I found out Teri Hatcher was playing my mom, I burst into tears in the middle of a very comedic scene. They said "get yourself together." I had my fan moment. I'm just so grateful that she's willing to be a part of it.
Are you emotionally prepared for the series to end next year?
I haven't thought about it. I don't think you can ever be emotionally prepared for something you've invested so much of yourself in. For me, it's seven years, but it's just life's journey, and it's great to be going out on top with great stories and a great arc. It's bittersweet.
