Mike and Morgan in the Morning interview with John Schneider
10/1/02 WQDR 94.7 FM

Mike: The new show on the WB called SMALLVILLE with John Schneider; you
probably remember him from (plays "Dukes of Hazzard" theme) the Dukes of
Hazzard as "Bo Duke", and we have him on the show with us...¦Ladies and
Gentlemen, John Schneider.

John: Hey, Good Morning guys.

Mike: Oh my gosh, John Schneider's on the show with us...¦WHOOOO-can't
believe he's here- and this time he's not in the General Lee...

(some idle Dukes of Hazzard chit chat-too brief to mention)

John: ...¦Obviously, we're going to talk about SMALLVILLE too, but I have to
tell you a quick story...¦We're on the porch of the Kent Family farm last
season and Tom Welling who plays Clark Kent is looking at me playing
Jonathan- giving him some serious bit of parental advice and all of a
sudden, I hear him say, "Will you look at that car." And I turn around and
down the street driving right in front of the Kent family farm house was an
orange '69 Dodge Charger with a big '01 on the door and a flag on the roof.

Morgan: Wow...¦get out...
Mike: What is your reaction to that kind of thing?

John: Speechless...¦and he blows the Rebel...¦he blows the General Lee
horn...you know the Dixie horn and what can you say-I mean there it is...

Mike: Did you want to grab your old bow and jump...

John: Shoot out a tire...

Mike: Yeah, shoot a tire out with some fire...¦well, of course you're in the
WB show SMALLVILLE, you play, I guess Clark's father, Jonathan.

John: I'm Clark's father, Jonathan Kent.

Mike: This is a pre-cursor to Superman pretty much.

John: Yeah, it asks the question "What made Superman the good guy...¦the
moral guy...that he wound up being and the answer is that he had really cool
parents-one of which is me. It's a great show- it's fantastic in that it's
Superman...¦he's bulletproof and he can run fast-there's a lot of things-
although, we do treat these abilities very much like special needs- What are
we going to do with this young man? How are we going to make him go in the
right direction because he can potentially be very dangerous here.

Morgan: You'll be able to see John in SMALLVILLE tonight at 9 o'clock on WB-
John, I do have to ask you...¦we were talking about your singing career-
you've done the TV thing and you've done the singing thing and the movie
thing- Do you like the singing or do you like doing the acting better?

John: Boy...¦it seems like the most fun I have is when I put them both
together and get involved in a musical.

Morgan: there you go...

John: I did a show on Broadway called "Grand Hotel" for alittle over a year
and I done a bunch of musical theater, "The Music Man"...¦that as far as
pound for pound, minute for minute it's when I'm doing the both of them is
when I'm having the best time.

Mike: Alright, you're on the set of SMALLVILLE, John...¦all of a sudden you
blurt out, "Uncle Jesse, Cooter won't be back from the Garage for awhile
with the car."

(John laughs)

Do you ever forget what show you're on?

John: You know...just about 3 days ago, we were standing at the farm and
some kids down the road...you know we do film in the country...¦and there
were some kids down the road that were hot-doggin' around in some car and we
didn't see the car, but we heard it go by and I was saying to Clark "You
know you have to take..."You have to take..." I forget what the line was but
it was terribly parental and this noise happened and I said, "Those durn
Duke boys...¦guuut guut...¦" (done in Rosco P. Coltrane voice)

(big laugh)

John: You know, you just have too...

Mike: Alright, look for John Schneider, he's Clark's father, Jonathan Kent,
on SMALLVILLE tonight on WB 9 o' clock. John Schneider's on the show...thank
you so much, sir. We appreciate it.

John: my pleasure, you folks have a great day.

Mike: you too.

Morgan: I've never seen a person so happy.
