New
Allison Mack Interview Online
Tara/LJC has conducted a new interview
with "Chloe," Allison Mack, at the appropriately
named Allison-Mack.com. You can find the interview by
clicking
here. Inside Allison talks about marriage, Season
3, the changes for Chloe that occurred between Seasons
1 and 2, the Chloe Chronicles, who she thinks should
play her mom, and more. Here's a brief excerpt on Allison's
take on Chloe's character:
"She
doesn't have a mom, because every time you see her,
she's with her dad. They're always talking about her
and her dad. Why does she have such abandonment issues?
Why is she so afraid that Clark's going to ditch her?
Why does she only have two friends? Why is she always
so involved with work at school? What makes her such
an abnormal teenager? We came to the conclusion that
it was more than likely that she was abandoned. That
the one person who was supposed to love her the most,
didn't. So she always has this fear of rejection, or
people leaving her and of not being good enough. Her
not being what everyone needs her to be. It shows the
way Chloe deals with things. Every emotional scene she
has, she's always saying 'Oh, but I'm fine. It's all
fine. Don't worry about it. I'll be fine.' Chloe represses
everything and then every time she gets hurt, she just
falls more and more heavily into her work because that's
the one thing where she doesn't have to think about
her life. If she's solving crimes, then she's too busy
to think about herself.
"It
was a really important thing to portray and it gave
my character a lot more depth. More ground. She's the
only one who doesn't have a background from the Superman
comics. So she was one of the only characters that didn't
have a built-in backstory. I think the writers didn't
think about that at first. If you don't give a character
something to stand on, then they're not going to be
as interestingthe audience isn't going to care
about them as much. If you give them background, you
can give them depth. Then all of a sudden, the character
comes to life and they're that much more interesting
and that much more accessible to the audience. I was
glad that we did that [storyline] and the more we can
go into that, I think, the better. I think it explains
so much about Chloe and why she's the way she is."
Tara
also tells us that the second annual Girl Friday charity
auction is concluded, and Allison's fans raised $308.49,
which will be donated to Allison's preferred charity,
the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

KRYPTONSITE
EXCLUSIVE!
Smallville
Panel At San Diego!
The
"surprise guests" at the Smallville San
Diego Comic-Con International panel were Allison Mack
(Chloe) and Sam Jones III (Pete). Executive producers
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, as well as
writers Jeph Loeb and Mark Verheiden, were
also on hand.
Not
too many spoilery details were revealed at the panel,
unlike last year's Con. However, some details and points
were addressed. Here were some of the highlights.
- Since
Sam Jones III was there, there was a lot more clamoring
for "More Pete!" Miles Millar tells us that
we may see Pete's family this year.
- Allison
Mack is hopeful for more screen time in the third season,
as part of the way a show arcs. She described it as
Season 1 being the setup, with Clark and Lex, Season
2 being focused on the second tier, being Lana and the
parents, and then hopefully Season 3 would feature the
third tier of Chloe, Pete, and company. Here's hoping!
- We
may see Lois Lane at some point, but not in the coming
season.
- Sam
Jones reminded folks to rent his movies - "Zigzag"
and "Snipes."
- When
asked if Clark will fly this season, Al Gough reiterated
"no flying!" after which Allison quipped "No
flights, no tights!"
- Regarding
Bruce Wayne appearing on the show, Gough said they'd
love for it to happen, but ultimately it's up to folks
like Paul Levitz at DC Comics.
- The
producers say that this voice speaking to Clark is *not*
Zod.
- Allison
promised "very interesting things" will come
with the Chloe/Lionel storyline, but they won't be without
consequences.
- Regarding
rumors of a Chloe death, Allison "hopes not"
for that, because she likes her job.
- Another
appearance by Christopher Reeve as Dr. Swann is dependent
on scheduling, as they would have to be shooting in
New York.
- Part
of the "deal" regarding Smallville versus
a Superman movie is that TPTB can't introduce more Kryptonians.
Which may be why Jor-El is heard but not seen.
- Allison
said she'd be open to a "Chloe Chronicles"
sequel.
- Someone
asked why Pete never gets any play, to which one of
the producers quipped. "Pete gets no action - on
screen."
- Season
5 might follow the characters to college.
The
panel also revealed the Top Five Smallville Moments
as chosen by the producers, and they were:
#5
The "Nicodemus" pool scene
#4 The "Insurgence" leap
#3 Lex's "Hourglass" prophecy from Cassandra
#2 Clark meets Dr. Swann, from "Rosetta"
#1 The meteor shower
It
was fantastic to see Smallville on a big screen.
Everyone got to ask questions of the cast and producers,
all of whom seemed to have a good time.
We'll
hopefully have more details to post soon. Thanks for visiting!

Now
on Sale: Smallville: The Comic #3!
Issue #3 of Smallville: The Comic
from DC Comics is now on sale. The "Lex issue"
as it is hyped features two stories prominently featuring
Smallville's baldy, and it also features an interview
with Michael Rosenbaum and more of a first season
episode guide for the show.
The
highlight, however, for Smallville #3 is a story
written by Clint ("Precipice") Carpenter telling
a tale from Lex's past, of a time when his mother was
still alive. This character examination is a unique look
at the character of Lex Luthor, and even makes good interaction
between Lex and Lana!

Now
on Sale: Kristin Kreuk in Femme Fatales!
Special
thanks to: Sean Jordan
The
latest issue of Femme Fatales features Kristin
Kreuk on the cover and a 6-page article!
The
Cinefantastique/CFQ booth at the San Diego Comic Con will
be selling oversized posters of the cover, but there will
be only 50, so if you go to the Con be sure to rush to
booth #3820-3822 quickly!
Among
the highlights of the magazine, Kristin admits she didn't
know much about the Superman mythology before taking the
role. "I knew the general story of Clark Kent, Superman
and the telephone booth," she told FF's Edward
Gross. "I had seen a couple of Lois & Clark
episodes when I was younger, but beyond that I didn't
know a lot. But I think the story of Superman, the story
of Clark Kent, is so universal and timeless, and the stories
are so interesting, that I'm really happy to be a part
of this great legacy that has gone on for so many years."
Kristin
also gets the thumbs up from her bosses. "She's an
incredible beauty and a wonderful actress. How often does
that combination come along?" asks executive producer
Alfred Gough.
Also
in the magazine, Femme Fatales takes a look at
the top ten episodes to watch if you want more Lana. The
article is accompanied by some of the Maxim/Arena photos
Kristin did last year.
