Sad News For Lois & Clark Fans
We are sad to share with you some bad news... we have received an e-mail telling us that well-loved actor Lane Smith, who played "Perry White" for all four seasons of the 1990's Superman TV series, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has been diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, and that this is a very rough time for him.

The family of Lane Smith would appreciate any and all prayers that could be sent his way. Additionally, any fans who would like to send cards, well wishes, grettings and that sort of thing, we are working on getting a fan mail address to post, as they would surely lift his spirits and let him know that even ten years after Lois & Clark, his work is still appreciated by his fans. (And of course there are those who loved him from V for twenty years!) Until then, you are all invited to post your wishes for Lane on the KryptonSite L&C Message Board and we'll see about sending them in his direction.

Christopher Reeve Speaks At Commencement
Special thanks to: Dee and Captain Sigma

Christopher Reeve (Dr. Swann) spoke at the commencement for Middlebury College in Vermont on Sunday. "We can rationalize inaction by deciding that one voice or one vote doesn't matter, or we can make the choice that inaction is unacceptable," Reeve said to the students. He also urged the President to hear evidence regarding stem cell research which could make him walk again.

John Glover Performing "The Goat, Or, Who Is Sylvia?"
Everyone's favorite Magnificent You-Know-What, John Glover, will be performing in a Philadelphia Theatre Company production of Edward Albee's "The Goat, Or, Who Is Sylvia?" through June 20th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show - which will surely has material that will require an open mind - features excellent performances by Glover and the three other actors in the cast.

For ticket information and costs, visit phillytheatreco.com or call 215-569-9700. Tell them Craig from KryptonSite sent you!

There will also be a discussion of "The Goat" at the "Off Stage with PTC Series" on Tuesday, May 25, at 6pm at the Borders on Broad and Chestnut Streets. Opening Night for the show is Wednesday the 26th (and you know you want your Glover fix that night since there's no new Smallville anyway, right?)

MediasharX Reviews The Season Finale!
The website MediasharX.com has now posted their review of this week's episode. Here's a sample:

"I was going to say that SMALLVILLE has gotten better at a lot of things over the past three years, but cliffhangers isn’t one of them. However, that’s not quite true--the cliffhangers are fine; it’s the season finales that have gotten worse..."

You can read the complete review by clicking here.

Smallville Writer Comings & Goings For Season Four
One popular writer will be joining the Smallville staff for Season Four, while two will be leaving for other opportunities.

Steve DeKnight, previously a writer for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and MTV's Undressed, will be joining the Smallville writing team for the coming season. DeKnight also has directing and story editing in his background, and we welcome him to the world of Clark Kent. DeKnight was also a supervising producer for this most recent season of Angel.

Unfortunately, we have to announce that two of Smallville's writers are leaving as well.

Ken Biller, who wrote the fan favorite "Shattered" and also did some directing for the series is moving on to the new FOX series North Shore; while Drew Greenberg will soon be trading the Clex for some Seth and Ryan, as he is joining the staff of The OC. The departures were mutual on all fronts, they both wanted to pursue other opportunities and are wished well.

Rosenbaum's "Cursed" Acting Techniques
Special thanks to: Dee

SciFi.com has posted another interview with Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) about his role in the upcoming film "Cursed," which is directed by Wes Craven. "We were doing a serious scene, and I'm looking at Christina Ricci, and I'm very intense. I say, 'Come on, we need to get out of here.' And Wes goes, 'Now do it as Christopher Walken doing the role.' So I go [in spot-on Walken voice], 'Come on, we need to get out of here.' Everybody started laughing. It was fun. It keeps the set light."

"Cursed" is due out on October 1, 2004. For the complete article, click here.

Good News: American Idol Moves This Fall
No more Wednesday night worries for Smallville next season.

FOX has announced their fall schedule, and on it, the American Idol results show will be moving to a new time of 9PM on Wednesdays. This clears it out of the way from our favorite superhero and his friends.

(And in case you're curious, The O.C. is moving to Thursdays at 9, right before Tru Calling)

It's currently looking like this is the competition for Smallville next year:
ABC: Lost (new drama about folks stranded on a desert island, starring Dominic Monaghan, Matthew Fox, and Ian Somerhalder)
CBS: 60 Minutes (formerly titled 60 Minutes II)
FOX: That 70's Show, Quintuplets/Related By Family (alternating at 8:30)

Some Season 4 Tidbits On The News?
Special thanks to: Kornbred

Some WB stations had a clip of Tom Welling on their 10:00 News from Tuesday's upfronts. In the brief clips there were a few spoilers. Check out the Spoilers page and go to "Season 4 and beyond." We've also added a few new ones of our own there.

Updated: Tom Welling AND Michael Rosenbaum At The WB Upfronts
Tom Welling was at the WB's 2004 Upfront Presentation today, again sporting some facial hair. (Note to Tom: A razor is your friend.)

We'll let you know who else is there. To the right is a thumbnail of a picture from WireImage. Thanks to Pat, we can now share it with you a LITTLE bit bigger! (Click here to see it)

UPDATE: We've also learned that everyone's favorite bald baddie, Saturn Award winner Michael Rosenbaum, also was present at the WB's Upfront. So far no pictures of Michael at the event have surfaced, but we hear he's got hair on his head!

Michael Rosenbaum Talks About Lex Luthor's Future
Michael Rosenbaum had a few quotes for SCI FI Wire today about the future of the Lex Luthor character in coming seasons, and what changes may be in store.

The article, of course, is spoilery, and confirms that certain characters will be back next season. Click here to read the article, and click here to read the spoilers!

Two Smallville Alumni In Fall 2004 ABC Series
Two actors from Smallville's past have landed on ABC's Fall 2004 schedule, which was announced today. One of them will be on up against Smallville.

Ian Somerhalder (Adam from episodes between "Asylum" and "Crisis") will be playing "Boone" on the series Lost, which also stars Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings) and Matthew Fox (Party of Five). Unfortunately, though, the series will be airing Wednesdays at 8 - directly opposite Smallville. Boo. Hiss.

Sean Faris (Byron from "Nocturne") stars in Life As We Know It, a new drama airing on Thursdays at 9PM. Some of the writers from the show worked on Freaks and Geeks, so this may be pretty good. Marguerite Mareau ("Carrie Castle" in "Drone") and Missy Peregrym (from "Delete") also play roles in the series.

Also on ABC's schedule: A new Sunday night series titled Desperate Housewives features none other than Lois Lane herself, Teri Hatcher, among its cast. Teri's Clark Kent, Dean Cain, also has a new series up for a spot on CBS this season.

Smallville Stays On Wednesday
The Hollywood Reporter has posted an article claiming to have the schedule for the WB for Fall 2004.

The schedule, which will be confirmed and formally announced by the WB on Tuesday, keeps Smallville at 8PM Wednesdays, with a sketch comedy series and an improv comedy series following it in the 9PM hour. (Yep, they got rid of Angel for *that* - file that in the "What were they thinking" file.)

Mondays and Tuesdays on the WB will remain the same as before; new drama The Mountain will premiere Thursdays at 9, and Jack and Bobby, the WB's other new series, will be on Sundays at 9 following Charmed. Smallville: Beginnings is also missing from the new schedule, replaced by Steve Harvey's Big Time.

Conspicuously missing from the WB schedule are the revivals of both Dark Shadows (which was written by Mark Verheiden, one of the writer/producers of Smallville) and Lost in Space. Hopefully there will be news of those series landing in midseason.

Smallville Returning To 9PM Next Season?
Special thanks to: MediasharX

MediasharX pointed us toward a Variety article that speculates that a return to 9PM for Smallville might be something we'll see in the future.

"As for dramas, net might rejigger some of its pieces, with important skein Smallville likely headed back to a 9 o'clock slot after suffering sharp ratings declines when moved to Wednesdays at 8," the article speculated.

The WB formally announces their Fall 2004 schedule on Tuesday, May 18; the schedule often leaks a day or two in advance. We're all for a later time change, just as long as Smallville isn't put in the way of The OC!

Feature In Sunday's LA Times!
Special thanks to: Xeidner

Today's edition of the Los Angeles Times features another insert from the WB Network promoting their shows. Inside is an article with Kristin Kreuk where it says this about "Smallville's shy star" who "learns to open up":

You'd think that after starring as Clark Kent's secretive love in the WB's hit series "Smallville" for almost three years, Kristin Kreuk would be used to the bright limelight. Not exactly, says the Neutrogena spokesperson, who'd so rather spend the night with a good book than with a bunch of celebs at a club. "I'm a shy person by nature and I used to have very strong walls around me," admits Krsitin. "But with my job, I meet so many people, all over the world, so it's paying off.Little by little I'm becoming more open."

And that includes how she's learned to deal with her millions of adoring fans. "Lots of people come up to me and say 'Are you Lana?' When I tell them yes, they cry and want to kiss me! I never knew I could have such an effect on someone's life just by being on TV." It's funny how fast things change — only a handful of years ago, when Kreuk was attending school in her hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, she planned to become a forensic scientist. "It's like putting the pieces of a puzzle together," she says. "It's fun, scary and exciting all at the same time." Well, encountering one fantastic adventure after another on Smallville is pretty exciting stuff, too. Never in her wildest dreams did Kreuk think she would be someone people dedicate websites to. "I still can't believe how lucky I am to have this opportunity."

In fact, if there's anything she wants her fans to know, it's that life is 100 percent what you make of it, so take advantage. "Whoever you are, no matter how different you are or what you believe in, you have the ability to do anything in the world that you want," she says. "For me, I'm just riding this career out. When the trains stops, I'll get off and go to university." Considering she's on the verge of superheroine status herself, it's unlikely that train will be slowing down anytime soon.

Xeidner has provided us with scans from the WB Magazine, which you can see by clicking here. Those who read all of the blurbs on the pages may find some spoilers, so be warned!

John Schneider In NBC Mini-Series
John Schneider (Jonathan) is one of the stars of a NBC mini-series that will be airing tonight, May 2nd, and Monday night, May 3rd.

The mini-series is called "10.5" and it's about a massive earthquake. Schneider plays the husband of the governor.

Thanks to everyone who e-mailed in about this one. Interesting trivia: we hear his character's name is "Clark!" Either way, it's on NBC May 2-3 if you want to see it.
